Here at School Plus Mansfield, we let nothing get in the way of us having fun! Bad weather, limited resources, social distancing, a worldwide pandemic, nothing will stop us from laughing, smiling and being creative!
The School Plus Mansfield team were proud to be part of the Mansfield school fete where we ran several activities for the Under 5s. Parents also enjoyed the the opportunity to get out of the sun and relax in the Chill Out area.
An amazing group of School Plus Mansfield OSHC educators rose early on their weekend to raise funds and participate together in this year’s Bridge to Brisbane Walk for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Our amazing team of Nundah educators had a blast at the 2019 Nundah State School Fete, running a photo booth and Giant Lolly Jar Guessing Competition Stall to raise funds for the Nundah P&C Association for capital works projects at the school.
At KP, we had 2 visitors (one a parent of the service) who both work in indigenous health care, come to our service, and teach us about the different indigenous regions within Australia from indigenous groups and their dialects.
As a team at School Plus Griffin the educators have stepped up to Walk for Autism, we have committed to taking 10,000 steps a day for 8 days and fundraising to help change the lives of the people on the autism spectrum.
School Plus Directors and staff were honoured to be invited to the official opening of Yarrabilba State School on Tuesday 23 October with Principal Lee Harrex, Education Minister Grace Grace and Local members of parliament and Logan City Council.
We are so proud of all our Coordinators. A special shout out to Julie from School Plus -William Duncan, Sharon from School Plus - CHAC and Nikki from School Plus - Bellmere for their OSHC Industry awards announced at the QCAN State Conference on the weekend.
There has been a recent focus on upcycling the room using items from the treasure market, staff resourcing and donations, including delivery and time to create our building blocks which were kindly donated by a local Caboolture builder Yorkbuild.
The visit was complete with Dream time stories and Ochre anointment for the children, with locally sourced ochre and a dance performance from some of the recent Gold Coast Commonwealth Games dancers and our 2 visitors to the service to celebrate Naidoc week and the 2018 “Because of her we can”.
On Saturday 17 February, the School Plus William Duncan team, their partners and Susan Aikman attended the fundraising event for Sara Vorbach and her family, a William Duncan family dealing with Sara’s diagnosis of terminal brain cancer .
