The school was built in 1901 and has evolved into being the heart of the New Farm community.

The theme of  National Book Week   (21-27th August 2021) is “Old Worlds New Worlds Other Worlds”.

This week Team Nundah had been cooking up a storm in the kitchen and preparing cupcakes so they could sell them to make money for a very worthy cause, to support the RSPCA to save animals and fight animal cruelty.

Each Thursday Miss Mandy from School Plus Griffin has been engaging the children in the “Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Program”, which is an age-appropriate program to teach children about personal safety.

Our Griffin team celebrated National OSHC Educators Day this week with a “Shout Out Wall” including a photo of each of our superstar educators on the wall.

The Moorooka team celebrated National OSHC Educators Day this week with a party, balloons and presents and messages of appreciation, organised by their amazing leaders.

This Friday, 30th July, was International Friendship Day and Schools National Tree Day.

To celebrate OSHC Educators Day, our Kimberley Park OSHC created a huge poster with balloons and set it up next to our parent sign in table to thank our parents for enabling us to be the educators, supporting us and letting us be a part of their children’s lives.

At the beginning of Semester One, the children of our Music and Movement Club sat with Miss Renee and decided they wanted to do a performance.

The Nundah State School Fete was held last weekend and our amazing Nundah team represented School Plus with a wonderful looking stall.

During Vacation care our Humpybong OSHC service had a Superhero Day where they raised awareness and funds for the Make a Wish Foundation.

Last week the children at our Mansfield OSHC service had a fun baking activity, showing off some great cake decorating skills to create the Australian Aboriginal Flag as part of NAIDOC Week, 4-11 July.

Wow - look at our Galaxy Mural! Last week our CHAC Service were looking forward to a trip to the Planetarium as part of their Space Week.

As part of this years Under 8's Day, our Mansfield service arranged a visit from the Woodhill Rural Fire Brigade, which was greatly enjoyed by the whole school community and OSHC staff!

It's official! Many congratulations to School Plus - Worongary OSHC children and educators! Their inspiring artwork won the competition which was chosen to nationally launch Child Protection Week on September 5th 2021.

As a lead up to Child Protection Week, we sought the voices of our children to reflect on what would be important if they could design a neighbourhood where everyone had what they needed and felt safe.

Many congratulations to the School Plus Worongary OSHC team who also just underwent the Assessment and Rating process and achieved “exceeding” in 7 out of 7 quality Areas and an overall rating of Exceeding.

Well done School Plus Humpybong OSHC for your outstanding quality result from the Office of Early Childhood Education and Care! Our OSHC service is now ranked in the top 2% in Queensland for quality. They were so excited to achieve an exceeding rating in all 7 quality areas and an overall rating of Exceeding the National Quality Standard.

It’s amazing how from little things, big things grow! Some of our Senior students at our Nundah OSHC service were rummaging through the store room resources and came across a box of pirate tattoos and eye patches.

Our focus during this week was on child protection for child protection week. We spent a lot of time talking about being safe and happy and spent time with our children talking and taking them through their health and wellbeing from a holistic point of view, diet, exercise and happiness.

This term in Cooking Club School Plus Humpybong have had a focus creating some of our family’s favourite recipes.

School Plus Moorooka OSHC have been critically reflecting on how to enhance and nurture children’s social and emotional wellbeing by focusing on the functionality of our existing play spaces.

The School Plus Cannon Hill Anglican College garden has been a labour of love over many years. The garden idea originated around the idea of being able to provide children with an enriched “garden to table” learning experience and has grown from there.

We have been advised that the numerous School Plus entries for Educators Day were very well received and it was very tough for QCAN to choose one School Plus entry as they were all so good.

School Plus Humpybong we were delighted to celebrate for the first time, OSHC Educators day! This was the first day we as OSHC Educators were recognised in our own field and celebrated.

The team at Sunshine Coast Grammar School Plus extended on the children's interest in our small fairy garden by working collaboratively to put together a life-sized fairy garden space.

Over the term in Culture Club the children will be creating a stepping stone for our garden with one of the Indigenous 8 ways Symbols using concrete and stones to create a mosaic pattern.

As a team at School Plus Griffin the educators have stepped up to Walk for Autism, we have committed to taking 10,000 steps a day for 8 days and fundraising to help change the lives of the people on the autism spectrum.
